DID YOU KNOW?
Stratford Day is a free, one-day, family street
festival. It has been held for 24 years on a blocked-off portion of
Main St.
, a town green, a community center and senior center, in
Stratford
,
Conn.
It is held on the first Saturday in June. The purpose of Stratford Day
is to provide an event where all civic, religious and social groups come
together in one place for fund raising and public exposure, fostering
community interaction and providing a fun, family outing.
Community groups have a booth either selling food,
running children’s games for a small fee or simply offering free
information. Crafters are also invited to Stratford Day to offer their
goods. Some businesses also set up information booths to promote their
goods and services.
All groups involved pay a modest fee to receive a
display area. All proceeds go to expenses required in supporting and
running Stratford Day. Stratford Day is a non-profit organization. The
Stratford Day Committee is an all-volunteer group of local citizens and
is always looking for more helping hands. There are no paid staff
members. Participation in, or display during, Stratford Day is by
invitation only.
